Well, this is my absolute first fanfiction. I hope you like it. If you do, please send any comments to gambit56@hotmail.com.(Please don't flame me, its my first try, O.K?) O.K. Sailor Moon doesn't belong to me, please don't sue me, it wouldn't be worth your time. This story is rated about PG. Memories Fade, Love Remains by The Watcher Serena had lost her memory. Serena had lost her memory. Darien ran, hearing that terrible fact echoing in his head. Oh, she hadn't lost all of it. She remembered some basic facts; some of her life. But all recent memory, including Darien and their love, was wiped out. Darien kept running, tears coursing down his face. He clearly remembered the day it happened... They had been goofing around, just having fun. Darien had offered to take her to the park, and she had agreed. While they were there, they had found a very tall tree, the tallest in the park. For some reason, Darien had dared her to try climbing it. Serena made it a good ways up, but then her foothold broke, and she ended up hanging from a single handhold. "Darien!!!"she shrieked. "Hold on, Serena!" he called. "I'll climb up and get you!" "Hurry, Darien! I can't hold on much longer!" she screamed. Just as he started climbing, her handhold broke. "Serena!!!" For a moment he could only stare at the spot where she had landed. Then he quickly jumped down to help her. He could see that she had hit her head pretty hard, and she was unconcious. Quickly he rushed her to the hospital, then he called her parents. When they heard the story, they were upset, but not angry. They understood that what had happened had been an accident. For days Darien was in agony, waiting to hear about Serena's condition. Whgen she was relesed, he knew something was wrong, because her parents had not called him. Even though her father haddissaproved of him at first, both of her parents now understood and accepted him. If they weren't calling him, then something was very wrong. Darien made it to Serena's house within 10 minutes of her release. Imediately after he arrived, Serena's father was at the door. When Darien saw his exspression, he staryed to worry. Ken's exspression was one of pity. "Sir, why was I not called when Serena was released?" Darien asked. Ken hesitated before answering. He could tell that Darien was frantic, and he wanted to give him the news gently. "Sit down, Darien." he said. "Darien...we didn't call you because of the confusion you would have caused." "What are you talking about?" Darien yelled. He was on the verge of panic, so Ken came right out and saig it. "Darien, when Serena hit her head, she jarred her brain. She... she lost some of her memory." Ken stopped talking for a moment, because Darien had started to tremble, without even realizing he was doing it. "Does she...does she even remember me at all?" he whispered. "She doesn't remember any of her new friends, not even you or Amy." he said gently. "We tried to ask if she wanted you to be with her, but she didn't even remember your name." Darien tried to control himself; tried not to embarrass Serena's father, but even he couldn't hide a pain that deep. He started to cry so hard that eventually Ken hugged him, as if Darien was his son, trying to calm him. "I...I know you didn't... always aprove of...us, but I loved her...I truly..." At that point Darien broke down again, sobbing. "Darien, listen to me." Ken said. "She may still regain her memories. Its not impossible. And even if she doesn't, you can stil get her back. I know that she genuinely loved you. That kind of love can never die." Darien calmed down, and tried to think that far ahead. "Thank you, sir, for listening to me. I think I'll...stay away for a few days, give her time to reajust. Then I'll see if I can meet with her." "Yes, that would probably be best. I'll call you if anything happens. Good bye, Darien" For a few days Darien tried to concentrate on something other than Serena, but it was impossible. Finally he went to her house and rang the doorbell. He was suprised when Serena opened the door. "Hi! Can I help you?" she asked. "Serena?" he whispered. "Huh? How do you know my name? Who are you?" she asked, puzzled. Darien ran... He was sobbing, and he didn't care. He reached the park, and sat by the lake, still sobbing. He was trying to gain control when a small black cat approached him. "Darien?" He looked wildly around until he recognized the cat. "Luna. How is she? Is she happy without me?" he muttered. "Darien, I am so sorry. All of us were shocked to hear the news. Mina and Raye are working on a plan right now." "Luna, what can I do?" he sobbed. "How can I live without her? I don't even want to try. I can't do it..." Luna was scared when she recognized the seriousness of his words. She would have to work to keep him going, keep him alive. "Darien, stop it! You must live, for her! You must keep trying. We'll get her back. Don't ever think anything diferent." "Thanks, Luna. What can I do?" he asked. "We've got to all get to know her again first. Then we can bring her to the temple. Raye and I will try all we know to bring her memories back. For now, all we can do is to get her to know us again." she said. "All right Luna, I'll work on that. Be sure to tell me when the temple meeting is scheduled." he told her. "Don't worry, I will." she replied. "You will have to be there, as her life partner. Nothing can be done without you." Darien left, trying to think of a plan. He was suprised when he bumped into Serena the next day, and even more suprised when she talked to him. "Hi!" she called. "How are you?" Darien was startled. "I'm doing fine." he replied finally. "How are you feeling?" "Oh, I'm doing all right. Um...did I know you, before?" Serena asked hesitantly. Darien was suprised, but decided to answer truthfully. "Yes, we were good friends before." "I know I've forgotten some of my friends." she explained. "How about we pretend that we just met, and we'll take iy from there?" Darien swallowed hard at the thought, but decided that it would be a good idea. "How about we go to the park?" he suggested. "Sure!" As they walked, he couldn't help but stare at her. He had missed her so much, and now he couldn't have her. They walked and chatted, and eventually Serena noticed his stare. "Is something wrong?" she asked. "No, nothing. Why do you ask?" he replied. "Well, I've noticed you staring at me, and I wondered if something was the matter." Darien tried to control his emotions, but he almost lost it when he heard her next question. "Are you attracted to me?" she questioned. Darien could hardly believe that she would ask that type of question. Even worse than that, he realized that he would have to go slowly, even though he longed to tell her the truth, and hold her once more. "Well...I would like to know you better, but I don't want to make you uncomfortable." he replied. "How 'bout we just get to know each other for awhile, and later we can talk about that." "Okay!" she answered. "Well, actually...I hate to say this, but I have to go now." "That's O.K." he smiled. "How about we meet later? I know a couple of girls you might get along with; maybe I could introduce you. And we could talk some more between now and then." "That sounds good." she said. "I'll meet you here in a few hours, okay?" "That's fine." he answered. A few hours could never seem so long. I know the story isn't much, but it's my first try. Any comments? gambit56@hotmail.com.
